VillageFest Palm Springs & Art Alliance of Idyllwild

The Mona Lisa & The Chapman Stick

The Mona Lisa & The Chapman Stick

Happy to announce that I’ve been accepted on an ongoing basis as an entertainer at the weekly Palm Springs VillageFest event! Going strong after 20 years, VillageFest is probably Southern California’s longest running weekly street fair. See my calendar for the nights I’ll be performing.

I am also pleased to announce I’ve been accepted as a patron member of the Art Alliance of Idyllwild. You can view my profile on their website.

I’m a big fan of art in general so I couldn’t help posting the photo to prove it. 🙂

12th Annual Indian Wells Art Festival

I had a wonderful time performing at the 12th annual Indian Wells Art Festival from April 4-6th! I met some amazing artists and great people who said they appreciated my music on The Stick. Many thanks! Happy to announce that I will be returning next year from April 3- 5, 2015!

Desert Sun photo 2/23/14

This past weekend I played at Artwalk and this photo appeared the next day in the Sunday edition of The Desert Sun. Many thanks to Michael Snyder, staff photographer of The Desert Sun for stopping by and capturing this great shot.

Meeting Herbie Hancock in Phoenix: May 1993

Here’s a shot from my photo archives that always brings a smile to my face. I accompanied Phoenix jazz singer Sherry Robertson on The Stick at the wedding of Maria & Luis on May 24, 1993. I did not know that Herbie Hancock would be the Honorary Father of the Bride. You can imagine my surprise when Herbie walked into the room! He has an enormous persona that just fills the hall and I noticed he couldn’t stop smiling. Herbie sat in the front row and really focused on our music. After the wedding, Herbie shook my hand and said “You’re awesome on that Stick”  I didn’t wash my hand for days hoping I could absorb his ‘vibes’ by osmosis. I asked him to autograph the back of my 12 string Grand Stick #977 and he kindly obliged.

Thank you Palm Springs…

… for inviting me to the Desert Arts Festival on Jan. 18th & 19th. I enjoyed meeting some great artists and I especially enjoyed the incredibly beautiful weather! Happy to report I’ve been asked back next month for 4 more days during the President’s Day weekend from Friday Feb. 14th through Monday Feb. 17th. Hope you’ll stop by to hear some great music. If you come of Friday, be sure to bring your sweetheart because it will be Valentine’s Day. Until then, aloha!
